2010 Muskie School:

The Pick 3 Outing event was a success, everyone had a blast and we even had a couple members catch a muskie this weekend. Congratulations to Team- Sean Odonnell and Jared Blaschke, they won this years event when Sean landed a 33 1/4" tiger. The only other fish landed was caught by Matt Pelletier and went 32". Jared hooked up with a good chunky fish but ended up getting it punched off by Tony the Rapala extreme net man!  :) Thanks to everyone that showed up and fished the event, we had a total of 12 people that registered and now CH59 has a pretty awesome lure collection for future fundraisers, thanks everyone! Congratulations to Chris Nordquist who won the raffle( Tyrant Czar Crankbait, Tyrant leaders, Tyrant split rings, and a 2008 Limited edition commemorative, Joe Bucher autographed Muskies Inc lure), I (Matt P) was lucky enough to win the first doorprize (1 Tyrant Czar Crankbait) and new Member Greg Cotton won the second doorprize (Mastering Pike on the Fly Book by Barry Reynolds). A few Members had mentioned they would like to see another Pick 3 Outing this year, we are contemplating organizing something similar in the fall at Quemado Lake. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures from this event because the camera all the photos were on was lost while fishing.

July 10th: Chapter meeting at Rock Lake State Hatchery/Field trip. By this time the muskie fingerlings at Rock Lake Hatchery should be getting to a decent size. This will be a great time visit the hatchery and see the results of CH59 and NMDGF's work on this project. The club will meet at the Hatchery at 11 AM and plans on leaving around 1PM. You can come and go as you please during that timeframe. (raffle: 3 Rapala Lures and 1 NMMI hat ($10 a ticket). Doorprize: a copy of the book "The Lakes of New Mexico"). Dont forget to bring your camera!

July 17-18th: Quemado Lake camping trip and trash pickup. More details will be announced soon. (raffle: a 2 night stay at the Bluewater Lodge, RV, and Horse Motel in a quaint 2 bed cabin ($10 a ticket). Doorprize: 60" floating Muskie Measuring Stick).

August 10th: MEETING CANCELLED-Chapter Meeting at Boston's Pizza at 6:00 PM. (raffle and doorprize).

August 21-22nd: New Mexico Outdoor Expo. NM Muskies Inc will hold a booth for this event. Stop by and see us, there are tons of fun events for the entire family! (raffle).

September 7th: Chapter meeting at Los Pinos Fly and Tackle Shop Special Guest speaker: Kevin Holladay Project WILD Coordinator/Aquatic Resource Education and will discuss an amazing opportunity for Chapter 59. We can turn the time we volunteer(d) on projects for the tiger fisheries into money for NMDGF. This is a no brainer, we encourage all members to come to this meeting. (raffle and doorprize).

October 5th: Chapter Meeting at Boston's Pizza at 6:00 PM.(raffle and doorprize).

October 23rd: EVENT DETAILS TENTATIVE Pike flyfishing clinic on the Rio Grande River in Pilar. Special Guest: Taylor Steight and son Nick will talk about how, when, where are your best chances at hooking into a big Pike in these waters. More details will be posted on this event. (raffle and doorprize).

November (TBD): Youth Fishing Clinic at Liam Knights Pond with families from East Central Ministries. (raffle and doorprize).

December (TBD): Christmas Banquette
